For my Literature Circle book I read Rules by Cynthia Lord. I thought this book was very realistic and just a over all really good book. Although this book was a somewhat easy material the book was not kiddish. In fact, I usually do not like to read, but this book I always wanted to read.

This book is about a girl named Catherine and her brother David. David is autistic. She wishes she had a “normal” brother. Since her brother is autistic he goes to OT. ( Occupational therapy.) Through OT she met a boy named Jason. Jason has a wheelchair, and he can’t speak. He uses cards to communicate. There is a word and a picture, and he touches the words that he wishes to speak. Although Jason and Catherine were friends,.... they were really only friends at OT. Catherine was a little embarrassed to be with Jason in public. Especially in front of Kristi.

Kristi is Catherines next door neighbor. She seems nice to some people, yet to others they might think she is kind of sneaky. She also has a friend named Ryan. Which is not very convenient for Catherine since she does not like him. Read to find out what happens with Ryan, Kristi, and Catherine.

Rules is a realistic fiction book. Which means that the story is fake but the story could happen in real life. This book is definitely the best book I have ever read! You can feel the characters emotions, and I can connect with the characters.. Trust me when I tell you that this book has so much to offer. Plus if I had to give this a rating out of five stars, I would definitely give it a five! I hope that you read this book, because I bet that you will love it!

Rules by: Cynthia Lord in my opinion was a great book. It’s about a girl named Catherine with an autistic brother named David. This book in my opinion is mainly for kids with autistic siblings or relative, and how to overcome the hard challenges of it. Continue reading to learn more about this amazing book.
Catherine is a very trustworthy, yet sometimes complaining person. Throughout the book she comes up with a list of rules to help David become more responsible. Many of the rules are easy to follow but through David’s mind pretty hard. Once every week Catherine attends occupational therapy with David to help him work on his social skills so he’ll do better in school. Catherine’s best friend Kristi who went to the dance with a kid named Ryan, who pretty much bullies David throughout the book and Catherine and Kristi work together to try and stop it but he wouldn’t. Other than Catherine the only other person who’s nice to David in this book is a boy named Jason. I only think this is because he’s handicapped, but maybe he really likes David.

This book was fantastic and it opened my eyes to how hard it can be with an autistic sibling in the house. My cousin is autistic and when we go to visit my uncle it’s hard, I couldn’t imagine having him live with us. This book was great, my rating is *****.

I read the book Rules by Cynthia Lord for my lit circle book. I really enjoyed the book. the genre is realistic fiction. I like the book because sometimes when i was reading it I felt really bad for what the characters were going through. This is what the book is about.

Catherine is just an everyday girl. But the only thing holding her back is her autistic brother David. David is always embarrassing Catherine in front of everybody. So Catherine decides to make a rule book for David so he can learn them. To help David, he goes to O.T once a week. Catherine doesn't really like going. But when she does she makes a new friend Jason. Jason is in a wheelchair and can not talk. So to communicate he uses a communication book with card that he taps.Catherine decides to start making the cards for him. After that Catherine comes to O.T every day.

Kristi is neighbors with Catherine. They become really good friends. But Kristi is really good friends with a boy named Ryan. Ryan pretty much bullies David for the whole book. Catherine always yells at Ryan. I think Ryan bullies David because he wants to act funny and cool when he is around Kristi. But for some reason David thinks that Ryan is his friend. Catherine tries to tell David that Ryan is not his friend.

In the end I really liked the book. I am so glad that I choose it for my it circle book. I wonder if there will ever be a sequel to Rules. Because if there is I will read it right away. In my 5 star rating I give it 5 stars. * * * * *

This book is about Catherine and her brother David. David is younger and has autism so he doesn't understand as well as other kids. To solve this, Catherine comes up with rules for David to follow. Meanwhile, somebody Catherine's age moves in next door. Catherine hopes to become bestfriends with the new girl next door named Kristi. In the book Catherine also meets a boy named Jason when she goes to OT with David. They become really good friends. Catherine tells Kristi about David, but leaves out the part that he is in a wheel chair and cant talk. Catherine also doesn't tell Kristi about David's autism. Later on in the book Kristi asks Catherine to bgo to the dance with her and Ryan, and to bring Jason. Catherine tries to get out of it, but can she? And how will Kristi reached when she finds out about Jason?

The book is realistic fiction. I really liked this book because its not one of those books where the whole time it talks about one thing. The book talks about all different situations with Ryan, David, Catherine, and so many more characters.

If I had to rate this book, (which I do), I would give it 5 stars! This is a great book that I think anybody would enjoy. this book also teaches you how its like to have somebody in your family have a disease like autism.
